Inspiration - Oasis

Oasis were an alternative rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. The band was formed by Liam Gallagher,  Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs, Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan, Tony McCarroll and Noel Gallagher joined later on. Their album "What's The Story Morning Glory" was rated the best album of the 90s.
I chose Oasis as inspiration for my own music video not only because of my personal music taste and that I rate them very highly myself but because of their image, their britpop style, their music and overall, their achievements and impact on the alternative rock genre. Influenced mainly by The Beatles, Oasis took inspiration from them and incorporated their ideas and style into their own songs. In many Oasis songs such as Supersonic and D'you know what I mean, lyrical references to The Beatles are made to show their personal love and respect for that band.

Above is the music video for "Morning Glory" by the band. I particularly like this video as it shows Liam as the domineering character of the band, showing his appeal as a frontman for the band. The video also shows the band in their casual style of sitting around jamming together, another aspect that I will try to apply to my own music video. The lighting and camera angles are varied and appropriate in this video and I like alot of the camera angles used in the video and will hopefully be able to use them in my own video.

Style is a major aspect within a music video. In their younger days, Oasis always came across as a common background band with their adidas tracksuits and rebellious attitude however, towards the ends of their final years together, the band adopted a more sophisticated look and Liam Gallagher now has his own clothing range called "Pretty Green", a name from which inspiration came from The Jam. The main reason I find Oasis so appealing is because of their style and attitude and I want to apply this aspect to my own music video. Below is a video by Oasis for their track "D'you know what I mean" and this show the kind of style I want in terms of costume and attitude.
